Kayla Boparai began her role as Research Project Coordinator for ASC in 2024 after a tenure in parks and recreation.  She brings much experience in project management from her role in the Urbana Park District, where she specialized in office management, mapping, and developing GIS products for public use. Prior to that role, she worked primarily in environmental education.

Boparai graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor of science degree from the School of Earth, Society, and the Environment.

Her hobbies include spending time with her dogs, traveling, exploring parks and trail systems, and cooking.
