Eric Potash
Research Scientist, Institute of Sustainability, Energy, and Environment
Research Focus: Soil Organic Carbon, Soil Sampling, Statistics, Geostatistics, Bayesian Modeling, Environmental Monitoring
Biography: Dr. Eric Potash is a Research Scientist at the Agroecosystem Sustainability Center (ASC), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He got his PhD in mathematics from Northwestern University and was a post-doc at the University of Chicago in public policy and public health before he joined UIUC in Dec 2020.
Mission Statement: Dr. Potash’s research applies statistical methods to soil properties, especially soil organic carbon. He develops and evaluates methods for measuring and monitoring these properties in a range of contexts, from experimental trials to commercial projects and landscape surveys. His goal is to support academia, industry, and government with the best methods for sampling, experimental design, and modeling in order to meet the challenges of our time, especially climate change.
